STANDING FIRM TO BE EXCELLENT

Text: 1CORINTHIANS 16:13

INTRODUCTION: Beside the fact that an excellent Christian must possess divine wisdom, live a life of praise and be discipline, he must above all, stand firm in faith in the lord Jesus Christ

WHAT MAKE AN EXCELLENT CHRISTIAN TO ST\AND FIRM

1                   Your faith must be on Jesus Christ only. He can never fail There is Assurance that you too will never fail.

2                   What you know about the lord Jesus Christ is also important .He is alive forever more, Rev 1:18. If this is all you believe about him ,it is enough for you ,he that is alive will help you to overcome any problem

3                   The devil will only flee from that Christian who has made up his mind never to backslide.

An Excellent Christian must make up his mind that once God has delivered him from the world he will never go back unto it again That determination must be strong because the world loves to attract people back to itself with glittering and lustful things, Gal 5:1

Keep sharing your salvation experience with anybody that comes your way, Matt 5:19-20

Prayer and constant fellowship with the brethren, 1Thesa 5:17, Heb10:25

Study the word Meditate on it and do it, Psl 1:1-3

CONCLUSION: Those who stand firm will wear a crown in this world and in Heaven. Also the crown can be taken away, beware!

ASK FOR WISDOM TO BE EXCELLENT

Text: 1 CORITHAN 1:24, COLOSSANS 2:3

INTRODUCTION: If God visits you and ask for what you want, ask for wisdom, 1kings 3:6-10

WHY WISDOM

1                   Wisdom is the supreme acquisition, Prov 4:7, Prov 8:11

2                   It is only a fool that will see death and will not take every precaution to avoid it,A wise man does no court sin because he knows that the wages of sin is death, Rom 6:23, Ezek 18:4, Prov 6:27

3                   With wisdom of God come other blessing, even the one you did not ask for, 1 kings3:11 -14, Prov 3:13-18

4                   Jesus  Christ is the wisdom of God .He that has Jesus Christ will have peace, joy, victory etc 1Cor 1:24,30

5                   Wisdom swill make you to win souls, Prov 11;30

6                   You need the wisdom of God to confound the enemies of God, Lk 21:15

7                   The fear of God is true wisdom, Job 28:28

8                   Wisdom is full of spiritual fruits, James 3:17

9                   Lay hold immovable foundation Math7:24

CONCLUSION: Things that one may desire are not to be compared to wisdom. If you want God to visit you, learn how to praise him

HOW EXCELLENT

Text: Dan 6:1-4, 22

INTRODUCTION: When we say something is Excellent , it means that it is good in it self and there is no evil Complaint about it . It also means that it is so good that it is not to be improved upon. An Excellent Christian is a Christian that is without Blemish

           

 Apart from Divine Wisdom which is Jesus Christ ,standing firm in Faith and taking your Stand for Christ, other grace that makes a man or woman an Excellent Christian are;

1                   He must be holy, Spirit filled. In addition to being  saved and Sanctified, to become an Excellent Christian, you must be holy Spirit filled the Holy Spirit gives gift and fruit that makes one become an excellent Christian, 1 Cor 12:7, 10, Gal 5:22-23

2                   To be an Excellent Christian, three other things must manifest ion  one’s life

You must aspire to please God in all things you do . do things according to how  God, himself will do them, Gen 1:31

You must aspire to get to where God want you to reach, Phil 3:12-14

An Excellent Christian will be perfect as the lord God A mighty is perfect, Matt 5:48

He is perfect in love knowledge, Wisdom, understanding and might

 
CONCLUSION: God will not lower His standard it is you who have to walk up to meet His standard

THE EXCELLENT CHRISTIAN

Text: 1 Thesalonians 4:3-7

INTRODUCTION: There are different categories of Christians. Some are saved and not sanctified while some are saved and sanctified. The Latter ones are the excellent Christians

ATTRIBUTE OF THE EXCELLENT CHRISTIAN

Excellent Christian are chosen few, these are the sanctified set apart for God; sanctified people are difficult to annoy Eccl 7:9. They continually offer praises to God, Psl 107:22, Heb 13:15. Excellent Christian do all things perfect as God would do it, matt 5:48. They are also disciplined, striving higher to become spiritual giants, Phil 3:7-15

QUALIFICATION OF AN EXCELLENT CHRISTIAN

1                   To be excellent Christian, ask for wisdom, 2 Chron1:10, 1 Cor 1:24

2                   Stand  firm in your faith and let your faith anchor on Jesus Christ alone, 1 Cor 15:58, 1 Cor 16:13, Phil1:27, Phil 4:1

3                   Take your Stand in Christ. Do not be Secret followers of Jesus, Rev 3:11, Dan 1:18, Dan 3:16-18. Be His disciples, Matt 16:24

CONCLUSION: The journey to becoming an excellent Christian begins with Salvation of your soul Are you saved?

Topic: CHRISTIAN ATTITUDE

Text:  1John 2:15-16

We will be looking Christian attitudes in this edition. You are not a Christian by the name you bear or being called a Christian but by acting as a Christian in all spheres of life. In this study we will be looking at the Christian attitude towards superstitions, covetousness, bebt, vows, lending and borrowing, dressing, politics, money, temptation, truthfulness and acquisition of things etc.

SUPERSTITION AND TRADITION (Matthew 15:1-20)

What is superstition?  (Dictionary meaning)

-Excessive willingness to believe in the supernatural

-A widely held but irrational belief in supernatural influence

What is tradition? (Dictionary meaning)

-The passing on of customs or beliefs from generation to generation

-A long-established customs of belief passed on in this way

-A method or style established by an artist, writer or movement and followed by others.

Superstition and tradition of men do not have bearings in the word of God. They make you disobey God and follow the things of men. Lev 18:29-30

SOME SUPERSTITIOUS BELIEFS AND TRADITIONS OF MEN

a. On wedding: Alcohol (Habakkuk 2:15-16) other traditional rites (like pouring water on the feet, taking to family shrine, use of ancestral items)

b. Burial: speaking to the dead bodies by consultation, 1Samuel 28:7-15, other burial rites (cutting of flesh, shaving of hairs, Lev 19:27-28) etc laws towards the dead Lev 19:31.

c. Festivals and costumes

d. Day to day living

-Husband and Wife relationship

-Female circumcision marks/incisions on our body, Gen 17:10-14

-Chieftaincy titles age group

-Day to day living

-The ones in your village

WHAT SHOULD THE CHRISTIAN ATTITUDE BE TOWARDS THEM

1. Do not accept or believe them

2. Do not walk with them, ignore and erase them from your mind by continually meditating on God’s word, Joshua 1:8, Ps 19:11, Ps 119:9

3. Always defile them by walking contrary to them.

THE WONDERS OF KNOWING GOD

THE WONDERS OF KNOWING GOD

“…but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits” Daniel 11:32b

I am not of the faintest doubt that you were blessed last month being our month of new beginnings. God started afresh with you as touching your Finance, Marriage, Relationships, Carrier, Job and Health etc. God is ever faithful to His word. The safest place to grab a live snake is the neck in the same vein; God’s word is the best part to get a hold of God.

However, because God is ever progressing and improving He has declared this month as our month of exploits. Exploit is an improvement on beginnings. Our opening scripture states that exploit is the natural estate of those that know or have a cordial relationship with God. What are exploits? It simply means fully or maximally utilizing resources in order to gain benefits. Our God is a God of order; He started afresh with us on so many notes and this month He is placing in our hands the password to utilizing our new beginnings in order to gain maximum benefits.

Hence, what is God really addressing by declaring this month as our month of exploits? He is simply saying to you that:

Ø  It is time for you to do greater works for His kingdom, John 14:12, Ezekiel 37:1-10

Ø  It is time for you to find or re-gain ALL that you have ever lost, 1Samuel 10:2b

Ø  It is time for you to shine, Isaiah 60:1-3, Matthew 5:16

Ø  It is time to take your seat at the ivory tower of authority, Genesis 41:37-44

Ø  It is time for you to rise from your sick bed, John 5:1-11

Ø  It is time for you to receive world transforming visions, Mark 10:46-52

Ø  It is time for you to be free from all forms of demonic oppressions, Mark 5:1-20

Ø  It is time for your efforts to become fruitful, Luke 5:1-7

Ø  It is time for your debts to be paid off, 2Kings 4:1-7

Ø  It is time for your womb to become fruitful, 1Samuel 1:20

Ø  It is time for you to get married, Genesis 1:18

Ø  It is time for your issues to be resolved, Mark 5:25-34.

Just to mention a few. However you need power to do exploit, for instance, Deuteronomy 8:18 tell us that it is God who gives the power to get wealth. Also Acts 1:8 reveals that power is all you need to witness to the whole world etc. And God will never ask you to do what He hasn’t empowered you for. In other words, the power you need to do exploit has been deposited into you but it needs be unlocked. So how do you unlock this power? It is simple;

Ø  Be born-again, John 3:3

Ø  Study God’s word  and other anointed materials ceaselessly, Joshua 1:8, 2Timothy 2:15

Ø  Wait on the Lord in both fasting and prayer, Isaiah 40:31, 1Thes 5:17

Ø  Be conscious of the power at your disposal, Luke 10:19, Daniel 11:32b, 1John 4:4

Ø  Fellowship continually with the Holy Spirit, Jude 20, John 15:5

Ø  Be thank-full and rejoice, Phil 4:6, 1Thes 5:16

Ø   GO AND USE THE POWER TO DO EXPLOITS, Matthew 28:19
